Migration to mobile has left door open for indies, says Thomas Was Alone creator
Thomas Was Alone creator Mike Bithell has suggested that the migration of mid-tier developers to the mobile space has left a large gap that indies are now taking advantage of.
Speaking at the Develop Conference in Brighton yesterday, Bithell said, "The middle ground devs all ran off to mobile, and left the door unlocked for us," and added, "Everyone is migrating to mobile, and have left a big gap... it's a massive gap we can take advantage of."
Bithell suggested that just because the herd moves to one arena, doesn't mean everyone else shuld follow suit. He suggested that the same thing happened when a glut of PC developers moved to indie several years ago, leaving the PC space open for indies to thrive.
He added that Thomas Was Alone and games like it have proved so successful on PC because so many developers had moved on to mobile.
What do you think about the migration to mobile? Has it had a visible impact on the PC space? Let us know below.
