Microsoft to extend Xbox Live functionality to Android, iOS games - report
Microsoft, according to sources familiar with the company, are looking to expand Xbox Live's cross-platform functionality to Android and iOS.
Along with the sources, a pulled job listing noting the need to "to win back game developers," according to GI International via The Verge.
"We will create a modern framework that is open-source, lightweight, extensible and scalable across various platforms including Windows Store, Windows Phone, iOS, and Android," read the post.
The firm is creating tools which will enable mobile developers to integrate Xbox Live into their titles such as Achievements, and will reportedly loosen restrictions on certifications and permissions required by Xbox Live.
The Verge's sources stated Microsoft wants Xbox Live across all mobile Windows, iOS, and Android platforms.
