Microsoft Flight to release as free download in the spring
Microsoft Flight will be released in the spring as a free download, according to an announcement from the firm.
In addition, players who sign-in to the game with their Games for Windows Live account will automatically be handed additional free content, such as the Boeing Stearman plane, supplementary missions, access to Achievements and an Online Pilot Profile.
Players wanting to go to the next level can then purchase the game and download the additional content therein which contains a new aircraft, regions and customization options. Owners will also become privy to daily aerocache challenges and regular content updates.
Also, as treat, players will be able to try out the all-new ICON A5 before real-world production starts at the end of 2012. Microsoft Studios worked with the manufacturing team at ICON Aircraft, the aeronautical engineers behind the Voyager spaceship, X-Prize winning SpaceShipOne, and Virgin Galatic’s SpaceShipTwo, to bring the “jet ski for the skies” to the game. The ICON A5 will be the first aircraft available to players for free in Microsoft Flight.
Posted below are a couple of videos featuring footage from the flight simulator, which is still in closed beta. You can sign up for it through here.
