Microsoft changing its policies to allow indies to self-publish - rumor
Microsoft is rumored to be changing its policies on allowing independent developers to self-publish XBLA games on Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
According to a report on Gamereactor, a European developer "with a long and proven track record," told the site it's currently in talks with Microsoft about self publishing on Xbox Live.
The new policy will allow the very smallest indie developers to compete with larger, independent studios the later of which are considered more established.
This way, the larger indies won't be able to "simply publish anything they produce as Microsoft wants to keep from flooding the market with software."
An unspecified selection process will also be involved, according to the report.
The developer also said there was currently a discussion regarding cutting the cost of devkits for select developers, as the current price runs $10,000.
