Michael Condrey's 2K studio has a name and it's called 31st Union

2K Games has announced one of its newest studios, headed up by former Sledgehammer co-founder Michale Condrey, will be called 31st Union.

The company officially revealed the studio's name today as 31st Union. The Silicon Valley-based studio was first announced in 2019.

It is headed up by Sledgehammer Games co-founder, and former Visceral Games COO and director, Michael Condrey. The studio's head of strategy is Activision's former vice president of product management, Tyler Michaud.

31st Union will also expand its presence internationally, beginning with a European location which will be based in Spain.

“We’re pleased to see the team at 31st Union continue to expand and scale internationally,” said David Ismailer, president of 2K. “We’ve seen the benefits of this approach across 2K, from broadening recruitment efforts and attracting the best talent to having more diverse perspectives contributing to the creative process. We’re optimistic the Spain studio will have a positive impact for 31st Union and look forward to sharing more about its new IP in time.”

Information on what the studio is working on wasn't provided, but a job listing for a level designer requests experience in online multiplayer action games.

During its most recent call to investors, 2K parent company Take-Two said we'd learn more about the project over the coming months.
