Metro: Last Light team didn't lose too much time on development after THQ sale
Metro: Last Light hasn't lost much in the way of development time since Deep Silver picked it up during the THQ auction, according to the game's studio representative.
Speaking with VG247's Sam Clay, Huw Beynon, global brand manager at Deep Silver, stated that while the game's release date has been pushed back a bit, it's only because of the aforementioned switch and banal things such as paperwork.
"Obviously the release date has been pushed back a little bit as the studio re-engages with a new publisher and tries to figure out QA, submissions and all the stuff you have to do behind the scenes," he said.
"We've not lost too much time on the development of the game, and it's essentially going to be the same product we planned to release in March. We're just really excited it's not been too traumatic for the studio, and I am confident that when the game comes out it's going to be great.
"I'm just really glad we can be showing it again and hopefully reassure people it's coming soon."
Beynon was previously THQ's head of global communications and was with the firm for nine years. He is currently working on Metro: Last Light and during his THQ stint also worked on the current Homefront title, plus several other unannounced projects. He also helped market titles such as: Dawn of War, Saints Row, Red Faction, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and Company of Heroes.
Metro: Last Light will release on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on May 14.
