Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain ships 5 million copies
Konami has revealed that Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain has shipped over 5 million copies.
Konami has published its financial results for the first half of FY2016, which ended in September.
In it, the Japanese publisher revealed that Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain has shipped 5 million copies, including digital downloads. The game came out September 1, which means it reached this milestone during its first month on sale.
The company's Digital Entertainment division earned ¥51.7 billion ($428M) over this six month period, an increase over ¥44 billion over the same period last year. The company's overall net profit was ¥7.8 ($64M), almost double that of the previous year.
Konami mentioned Pro Evolution Soccer in its report, but did not reveal sales data.
The Phantom Pain, which came out on PC, PS4, PS3, Xbox 360, and Xbox One is said to have made more money than Avengers: Age of Ultron on its launch day.
