Some Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain CE pre-orders being canceled by GAME UK

There seems to have been a snafu in GAME UK's system which has caused quite a few pre-orders for the Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain Collector's Edition to be canceled.

There have also been numerous instances of standard edition pre-orders being canceled as well. GAME said this is due to an "over payment" processed incorrectly by its system.

According to GAME, some of the cancellations are due to failed payments from the customer's bank, or incorrect delivery addresses.

Many customers are disputing this, stating their both the financial institution and mailing addresses are correct.

Gamespot reached out to GAME and received the following statement, which only covers 370 customers who pre-ordered the standard version.

"Regrettably, due to a technical issue with our computer systems, 370 customers who pre-ordered the Metal Gear Solid 5 Standard Edition have had their orders incorrectly charged," it said. "Our customer service and store teams are currently working to contact all those impacted and refund any over payment. We apologize for any inconvenience caused."

When MCV contacted GAME, the statement was quite different, and as the site noted, highly confusing.

“Regrettably due to a technical issue with our computer systems, 371 customers who pre-ordered the Metal Gear Solid 5: Hardware Edition have had their orders incorrectly charged. Our customer service and store teams have been working to contact all those impacted and refund any over payment. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.

"Simultaneously, a small percentage of customers have had a legitimate cancellation due to an issue with their payment provider. Our customer service team has been in touch with all customers affected to advise them accordingly on this issue."

We're assuming the Hardware Edition is the same as the Collector's Edition, which includes the Snake arm replica. When we Googled Metal Gear Solid 5: Hardware Edition, images and site articles pointed to the CE.

Hopefully GAME will offer a more comprehensive statement soon.
