Merlin TV show may get the videogame treatment

Looks like the good Doctor may be joined by Merlin in videogame land, according to the BBC.

Apparently, rights-holder and production house Fremantle Media is look for partners to create a game based on Merlin as we speak.

“We are already talking to a number of games companies, but nothing has been signed yet,” Fremantle VP Pindy O’Brien told MCV.

“It’s quite perfect for a video game, with Arthur and Merlin trying to conquer evil, and all the weird and wonderful characters. The third series begins in September, so hopefully we can have something out for the end of the year – if not we can always look towards next year.

"I think this could be a real core game. It is one of our key properties and the BBC is fully committed to Merlin.”

The third season for the show launches in September along with toys, "DVDs, books, costumes, calendars, bags, wallets and more", MCV was told.

It was announced last month that the BBC was looking into getting back into the gaming business after a five year hiatus.
