Medal of Honor dev team renamed "Danger Close"
EALA's Medal of Honor development team has been renamed "Danger Close", according to a report from Gama.
The name change applies only to the dev team behind the shooter, and not the studio as a whole, which also houses the main Command & Conquer team.
The term where Danger Close comes from is when troops call in for short-range fire, and not a long-range bombing.
"When an individual is calling in for danger close fire, it's the decision to take a chance, rather than sit back and call in from afar," said MoH producer Greg Goodrich.
"For our team, 'danger close' is about pushing the boundaries and taking chances on telling a story we felt needed to be told. It may be controversial, but we felt it needed to be told, and we're telling it with respect and authenticity, to shine a light on these guys."
As for where the name came from, Goodrich added:
"A few names had been thrown around, but then Rich Farley, our senior creative director, was playing the game at his desk and, right then, we heard one of our characters, Jimmy Patterson -- the grandson of Jimmy Patterson from the World War II era of Medal of Honor -- scream out, 'Danger close! Danger close fire!
"We said, 'I think Jimmy Patterson just told us what to name our studio."
And the rest, as they say, is history.
Medal of Honor releases in October for PS3, 360 and PC. The multiplayer portion, being developed by DICE, is coming to the end of its beta stage on PS3 and PC, although has just kicked off on 360.
