May NPD: Year-to-date sales hit $6.58 billion

According to this GameDaily report, year to date sales are now confirmed at $6.58 billion in the US, following the release of NPD data last night.
The figure shows a 32 percent increase over sales in the same period last year.
NPD analyst Anita Frazier noted that this exceeds total 1997 annual revenues.
"The industry is on pace to achieve revenues in the $21-$23B range for 2008," she said.
