Matsubara: 3D and 3DS to be "more accepted by the core" than casual player
Tecmo Koei CEO Kenji Matsubara has said that Nintendo 3DS and 3D games will appeal more to the hardcore than the casual.
Speaking in an interview with Nikkei BP, Matsubara said that when a new experience debuts on the market, it's the core audience that embraces it before expanding from there - obviously.
"3D games don't have a sales record yet, so I don't know," he said. "However, I suspect it will be more accepted by core gamers rather than casual players.
"When you bring something new to the market, the core player group first finds it interesting, and then it expands from there.
"I believe current DS core gamers who like new things and core gamers who don't have a DS will be the first to jump in. After that, it will be up to the content."
Guess we'll all find out how well the core likes 3DS when Nintendo unveils it at E3 next month.
Thanks, Andriasang.
