Massive rumor: Linden Labs currently "entertaining offers" with Microsoft placing a bid

A massive rumor floating around the net today has Microsoft throwing its wallet at Linden Labs.

According to a report over on TechEye, a source close to Linden Labs tweeted the rumor stating: "A little birdie told me that Microsoft may have silently offered to buy Linden Lab this week."

Supposedly, Linden Labs is currently "entertaining offers and Microsoft has stepped up with a bid", and if true, it could be Microsoft's way of having its own sort of PS Home on the net - although it likely doesn't need it, but it would help pad the bank account a bit.

Other Linden Lab employees have gotten in on the rumor as well, according to Dwellonit, a Second Life blog.

So far, Linden Lab has refused to confirm or deny the rumor, but we've sent a mail to both Microsoft and a contact we have Linden Labs to find out if there is a shred of truth to any of this.
