Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite has a "serious bug" impacting Xbox One
The most recent content update for Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite introduced a very serious problem for Xbox One owners with the disc version.
Admittedly, it's one most Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite players may not run into just because of what's required for the bug to trigger. When it does, it could result in the loss of your save file.
To trigger the bug, you'll need to have updated your game to the latest version, uninstalled it, then reinstalled the outdated build from the disc. If you use save data created before taking the December 5 update, the game will recognise them as not compatible and prompt you to create a new save file.
Capcom warns that you should not create a new save file, because it'll overwrite your existing save. To get around this, just update the game to the latest version, then launch it with your existing save.
In short: update your game to the latest version if you're installing from a disc before loading up old saves. Capcom said that it does not currently have a proper fix for the issue, but following the steps above should prevent it from occurring.
In other Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite, the game is free to play this weekend on PS4. The trial is available only to Plus subscribers.
