Magicka still planned for other platforms once "development issues" are addressed

During Paradox Interactive's press event yesterday, the firm and Arrowhead Game Studios announced Magicka was being developed for platforms other than PC.

Magicka was first announced October 2009 as a multiplatform release, but yesterday, Paradox was unable to name any other specific platform due to the inability to commit to anything at present. Paradox said this was because the game is currently going through the certification process for these "unannounced platforms". Paradox told attendees the game could be released on PSN before XBLA, but both releases were dependent on the "development issues" for the platforms being solved.

Paradox producer Shams Jorjani told Joystiq the game was built using XNA, so it will run on Xbox 360.

"We are doing everything we can to get this game where it belongs: In front of your couch," he told the site.

The game was most recently in beta, and is expected to be released on PC January 25. It promises 13 different levels of various environments, a dynamic spell casting system and 4 player co-op; all set in a "generic fantasy world full of satire and dark humor."
