Madden NFL 12 good to go after NFL league lockout ends
EA had previously stated that it could face loses of up to $80 million had the deadlock between the NFL league and the Player's Association led to the cancellation of the season. Fortunately for the publisher, and NFL fans the world over, the game is most definitely back on.
Yahoo Sports has reported that the 18-week lockout, the NFL's first work stoppage in 24 years, came to an end with compromises being made on both sides.
Elsewhere, details of the 'online communities' feature in Madden 12 have emerged. Players will be able to create public or private communities from anything from 2-2,000 players strong, as well as setting 'house rules' for games taking place between community members.
Stat tracking is a given, and members will be able to engage other communities for ranked team play. It's hoped that the introduction of more self-contained communities will satisfy fans after what EA describes as "massive fan feedback requesting the ability to play online without having to worry about cheaters, quitters, or gamers that don't play by the same rules."
Madden NFL 12 is expected to launch across multiple platforms on August 30 in the US and September 2 in Europe.
