Machinarium hitting iPad in August

The iPad version of charming point-and-click adventure Machinarium is in the testing and bug-squashing phase of development and should "hopefully" be ready for an August launch, according to Amanita Design founder Jakub Dvorský.

Speaking to Pocket Gamer, Dvorský said the game's iPad iteration is almost finished and that "hopefully" it'll "be ready during the next month."

Launched on PC in 2009, Machinarium features hand-drawn visuals and some truly head-scratching puzzles. Fortunately, there's a two-tiered help system if you're stuck, offering first a broad hint in the form of thought-bubble that pops out of the robot protagonists head, and then a step-by-step walkthrough if you're entirely stumped.

The game won an award at the Independent Games Festival in 2009 for Excellence in Visual Art, beating the likes of Pixel Junk Eden and Zeno Clash, and, like World of Goo before it, will hopefully find an extended audience on Apple's touch-feely device.

Thanks, MTV Multiplayer.
