Ludorum Studios announce Ascension: Arenas of War
The UK-based studio details its debut title by discussing game modes, character classes, and launching a trailer.
Set up by five students from the University of Staffordshire, Ludorum has been working on the game since October 2011. It promises to combine the fast-paced play of the FPS genre with skill based classes, whilst encouraging a team dynamic in order to achieve specific goals.
Various game modes and character classes have already been confirmed for the PC title. Team Deathmatch is reinforced by EMP Mode, which tasks an attacking team with detonating three points across the map. Virus Mode forces players to upload a deadly bug while the match timer ticks down (the more viruses uploaded, the faster points arrive), and Upload Mode places random terminals on the map, all of which must be reached quickly in order to steal vital funds.
The character classes announced are Juggernaut, Cyborg, Technician, Scientist and Hacker. Each has a key trait, including speed, power, the ability to hack terminals, and a mastery of chemical warfare.
"We are looking forward to finally showing people what we have been working on for the past few months," said the team.
