Lucasarts signs multi-year licensing deal with Epic for Unreal Engine 3

Epic has announced it has signed a multi-year agreement with LucasArts, which will see the firm using Epic's Unreal Engine 3 as the main development tool for "multiple projects."

The press release failed to mention which projects Lucasarts would be using the engine on, and of course, financial details were also not disclosed.

Lucasarts has used Unreal in the past for games such as Repubic Commando, a game with a rumored sequel in the works since time began. Or not long after the original game's release in 2005 - take your pick.

Hopes for a Republic Commando sequel were rekindled earlier this month, when Lucas hired former Tomb Raider man Tim Longo, who had previously worked on Republic Commando. He is currently working on an "unannounced project" at the firm.
