Lock your wallet up before watching this nostalgic NES Classic Edition trailer
Nintendo knows you long for a more innocent time.
NES Classic Edition, AKA this holiday's most surprising console option, is a mini NES console with 30 built-in games rejigged for HD displays.
At $60 plus $10 for an extra controller, it's not a huge investment - even if it can't be expanded with extra games. But do you really need a little plug-in box to play these old games on?
If your answer is anything but an emphatic yes, keep your budget pure by refusing to watch the trailer above. I was a Sega kid myself so I find myself completely unmoved, but several grown men in my Twitter feed were sobbing with longing over it this morning, so I assume it's hot stuff.
The NES Classic Edition launches November 11 in the US. No word yet on release elsewhere.
