Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy 13 gets Fang screenshots, new battle details
Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy 13 will see the return of halberd-wielding tough-nut Fang. Developer Square Enix has published a new batch of screens featuring Fang, as well as some new battle mechanic snippets.
The shots follow recent and were posted at PS Blog EU. They can be found below.
Fangand her buddy Vanille were seen at the end of Final Fantasy 13 being crystalised in a grand pillar that connected the worlds of Pulse and Cocoon. Square's community manager Lee Williams wrote of Fang's return, "For centuries, Fang and Vanille slept within said crystal pillar, holding Cocoon aloft in the sky. But a few short years ago, they awoke. At first, the pair lived under the care of the Order, until Fang set out to the Dead Dunes, a barren expanse of desert within Nova Chrysalia, in search of a long-lost relic. She did not return.
"Fang and Lightning eventually reunite and team up to explore the ancient ruins that lie buried beneath the sands of the Dead Dunes. When battle erupts, Fang fights by Lightning’s side, and the pair can easily take on foes that would be extremely difficult to defeat alone."
Elsewhere, Williams explained that in the world of Lighting Returns, no new births are possible, so players can render species of monsters extinct. However the last remaining creature - dubbed, 'The Last One' - will be super-powered and present players with an tougher battle. When things get too tough however, you can use Lighting's EP Ability 'Escape' to flee the fight.
