Let's watch Battlefield 1 players take out planes, and then rank them for skill and guts

Battlefield 1 is a real water-cooler game, huh. Let's check out some amazing plane take downs.

Battlefield 1 is all anybody is talking about this weekend in my neck of the woods, and since I don't play it I feel like that guy at the party sweating and bleating "local sports" in an attempt to fit in.

To educate myself I glanced over the Battlefield Twitter in the hopes that it would feature a link along the lines of "Battlefield 1 small talk", but instead what I got were three videos showing off what seem to me to be spectacular plane take downs.

Like I said, I don't play Battlefield 1 so maybe this sort of stuff happens all the time. Help me learn by playing a little game with me: let's rank these takedowns for skill and guts.

In the embedded video below, an unknown Battlefield 1 player snipes a plane right out of the air.

Not bad, not bad, and I'd be stoked if I did it - but the replies suggest this sort of shot is nothing for a skilled Battlefield 1 player. As for guts, well. I have distinct opinions on snipers in PvP and rarely do they include positive assessments of their courage.

Moving on. In this next one, IdesGaming lobs an anti-tank grenade into an incoming plane, proving the versatility of this Battlefield 1 favourite.

The arc of Battlefield 1's anti-tank grenade looks like it would take some practice to master, and a plane is not the easiest target to hit even when you have a weapon that fires in a direct, straight line, so I'm gonna go ahead and call this pretty skilful. It does take guts to hang about in the open with a plane overhead, I imagine.

But now here's TrickyTroll, pulling off a mid-air anti-tank grenade plane kill.

Skill? They nailed a moving plane with an anti-tank grenade from the wing of another moving plane. Guts? Did I mention they were under fire from the pursuing plane when this went down? Spectacular. A clear winner.

So tell me - is this sort of thing an every day occurrence in Battlefield 1? Seriously?
