Let's take a look at the SNES Classic Mini, take a tour of the menu, and play some Star Fox 2
The SNES Classic Mini releases next month, but pre-orders open soon.
It's a good thing we got one early, then, courtesy of Nintendo. Our very own Alex actually received his unit just as he was getting ready to leave for gamescom.
In the video, you'll see him take a look at the console itself, do a bit of a size comparison, and generally shake the thing around. As he notes in the video, the length of the controller cords may be an issue for some. On the bright side, you get two controller instead of one.
After that it's off to the menus, which have the trademark Nintendo music.
When all of this is done, we get to the main event: Star Fox 2. In case you didn't know, you actually have to finish the first stage of the original Star Fox to unlock the sequel. It's a bit of a weird requirement, but Alex soldiers on and quickly goes through it to unlock Star Fox 2.
Earlier today, Nintendo unveiled the rewind feature, which allows players to save the game and go back to start from a previous point. All 21 games support it, but the length of time varies from one game to the next.
The SNES Classic Mini is out September 29.
