Lego City Undercover headed to all platforms - including Switch - this Spring
The Wii U-exclusive Lego City Undercover won't be exclusive for much longer.
Lego City Undercover headed to all platforms - including Switch - this Spring
Lego City Undercover isn't remembered quite so fondly as say, Lego Batman or Star Wars - but it's a gem all the same. The game was effectively an all-ages spin on the Grand Theft Auto series - complete with a large open world and drivable vehicles - all used to parody classic police movies. The only problem was that Undercover was a Wii U exclusive, and as such had a limited audience. But now that's all about to change.
"Join the Chase!" WB Games announced on its Twitter page. "LEGO CITY Undercover is looking for new recruits on PlayStation®4, Xbox One®, Nintendo Switch™ and STEAM® in Spring 2017."
As a Wii U exclusive, Undercover was able to make use of Nintendo-based properties - for example, it's possible to build a Lego Super Mario warp pipe in the game. These will likely be removed in the new edition, but may survive in the Nintendo Switch release. That said, you probably won't see any of Undercover's GamePad mechanics, which let you use the controller as a dual-use communicator and scanner.
Still, for anyone who loves Lego games but missed out on Wii U exclusives? Lego City Undercover's re-release is great news.
