Leaked Star Wars Battlefront 2 promo promises an "untold soldier's story" and multiplayer battles "across all eras"

Star Wars Battlefront 2 is already looking more satisfying than the original.

Update: Unfortunately the leaked Star Wars Battlefront trailer has been removed. You can view it directly in browser via this link. In order to fill the empty embed frame below, please enjoy this musical performance from Tim Curry appearing in 1998 BBC-ITV children's series The Worst Witch.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 hasn't been officially revealed yet, but somehow or other here's a pretty legitimate looking promo for it. The stings at either end of the promo suggest it snuck out from an official PlayStation YouTube channel.

Since the first game was criticised for lacking a proper single-player experience, it's exciting to see that Star Wars Battlefront 2 will apparently tell an "untold soldier's story". That doesn't necessarily mean a traditional single-player campaign, nor confirm it will be meaty enough to satisfy, but it's certainly hopeful.

The bit about multiplayer battles "across all eras", combined with footage showing characters from a range of Star Wars products, should please fans. Let's hope Star Wars Battlefront 2 leverages its broader scope to pack in way more content than the arguably bare bones original.

The trailer notes that Star Wars Battlefront 2 pre-orders get bonus characters from Episode 8: The Last Jedi.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 will be formally revealed on April 15 at the Star Wars Celebration event in Florida.

The pre-announcement said the Star Wars Battlefront 2 reveal would be a trailer, and that's probably what we're seeing here - although with any luck there's a longer cut or some information on content and gameplay inbound, too.

Star Wars Battlefront will almost certainly release for PC, PS4 and Xbox One over the 2017 holiday period.
