League of Legends updates blocked by UK's anti-porn filter - report

League of Legends fans have reported difficulties downloading updates for the game thanks to the UK's new and apparently over-eager anti-porn filter.

According to a forum post, since the filter's implementation the League of Legends patcher cannot access a couple of recent update files.

The problem, users theorise, is that these filenames quite innocently contain character combinations which inadvertently spell the word "sex": "VarusExpirationTimer.luaobj" and "XerathMageChainsExtended.luaobj".

Putting aside the headache-inducing question of why the word sex is blocked by an anti-porn filter given its multitudinous non-porn usages, this makes life pretty tricky for League of Legends players. Solutions from the community include having a friend download the whole patch for you, calling your ISP to opt-out of the filter or have the files whitelisted, and checking your router's filter settings.

Thanks, GamePolitics.
