League of Legends players raise over $160,000 for Japan earthquake relief

Riot Games has announced that players of its freemium PC action-RTS game League of Legends have raised over $160,000 for Japanese earthquake relief efforts.
A total of $162,430 was raised between March 21 and March 27.
Riot Games said over 50,000 League of Legends players purchased the in-game champion Akali and the Nurse Akaki skin to contribute to the fundraising initiative.
The full takings from those sales will be presented to the American Red Cross' Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami fund.
