League of Legends introduces Honor system to reinforce good behaviour
League of Legends, like all MOBAs, is notorious for a highly competitive community; that's the most polite way I can think of to put it. Riot Games hopes a new Honor system will help teach better manners among its fans.
Although players have long been able to report bad-mannered or otherwise unpleasant opponents and teammates, there's been no way to acknowledge friendly and skilled summoners until now.
Using the Honor system players will first be able to award a thumbs up to worthy friends and foes, and then classify the Honor sent as Friendly, Helpful, Teamwork or Honorable Opponent.
Although Honor won't have any material reward - it can't be traded or otherwise exchanged - Riot is apparently considering some sort of acknpowledgement of those who gather significant amounts of it.
They say that positive reinforcement works better than punishment; let's hope League of Legends becomes a more welcoming place as a result. For more information, visit the League of Legends Honor page.
