LawBreakers dev launching a new Battle Royale game tomorrow
Radical Heights is a new early access Battle Royale game from LawBreakers' Boss Key Productions.
It's only been a few days since Cliff Bleszinski's Boss Key Productions announced LawBreakers was ceasing development. We certainly didn't expect a brand-new game announcement fresh on its heels. Yet here is Boss Key with Radical Heights, an early access Battle Royale title with a distinct 1980s-inspired flair.
And the biggest surprise? It's launching tomorrow.
Radical Heights hopes to stand-out from the crowded Battle Royale space by adopting an "X-Treme" 2023 game show style. Players are dropped into a large domed community in Southern California, where they are expected to shoot it out to survive. But outside of scavenging, players will have a variety of methods to earn cash and impress the viewing audience.
You can collect cash by shooting arcade machines, access off-shore accounts using ATMs, or locate random spin wheels and prize doors for cash rewards. This in-game cash can then be used to buy weapons, cosmetics, and various upgrades that can be applied for your next match.
"This is a five month passion project for the studio as we’re creating and publishing the game entirely by ourselves," Radical Heights Creative Director Zach Lowery said in a statement. "We’re huge fans of Battle Royale games along with the bright, inviting irreverence of the 80’s aesthetic. Because of that, we want to put our own spin on the genre and create a futuristic 80’s world that takes place in 2023 during an over-the-top game show where contestants battle it out for fame and prizes."
Boss Key adds that Radical Heights will be free to play when it launches, with no gameplay advantages available using real-world money. The game's Steam page offers a Founder's Pack of cosmetic items, while additional in-game microtransactions will likely follow.
Radical Heights launches tomorrow for PC via Steam. Tubular, dude.
