Latest Skywind development video gives you an in-progress look at the Silt Striders
Here's a look at how custom animation is coming along in Skywind, the recreation of Morrowind in Skyrim.
The video above from the TESRenewal Project provides a look at both the animation and creature skeleton of the Silt Strider. As the developers note, what you're seeing is an early Alpha test, so it does not represent the final outcome.
According to the team, there are "noticeable issues with sliding, collision and pathing," and since this is just a technical test, everything you see will be improved over the course of development.
The Silt Strider you see in the video is a model from Dragonborn, the third add-on for Skyrim. In the DLC, the creature is located on the island of Solstheim off the north coast of Morrowind. This is where Dunmer refuges have resided since the eruption of the Red Mountain. The strider is not used as a means of transportation in Skyrim, as it was in Morrowind.
TESRenewal said the creature will be replaced with its own, so the wild striders seen roaming about Skywind will not have the shell removed from their head, unlike those used for transport in Morrowind.
If you want to help move things along with the development of Skywind, the team could sure use your help.
It is also working on Skyblivion, a project which mods the entirety of Oblivion in Skyrim, and the team needs additional development help on it as well. If you want to lend a hand, hit up this link.
The more volunteers, the faster both will be finished, and finally put into our hands.
