The Last of Us: Part 2 - State of Play recap and story speculation

The Last of Us: Part 2 finally has a release date - but that's not all we learned in last night's State of Play - so here's a handy video recap of everything that went down.

It's finally happening. After years of waiting, The Last of Us: Part 2 will be in the hands of players this coming February, at long last letting people discover just what happened to Joel and Ellie after the harrowing end of the first game in the series. The February release means that the early part of next year continues to be stacked, with this highly anticipated sequel releasing within a few weeks of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Cyberpunk 2077 and Animal Crossing New Horizons.

The big news out of last night's State of Play stream from PlayStation was that February 21 release date, but there was a lot of other news besides including the reveal of five different editions on the game, depending on how hardcore a fan you are.

We've obviously got lovely written stories about State of Play's various Last of Us: Part 2 related reveals right here on the website, but if you prefer to watch or listen to your news, there's also a sweet round-up video covering the limited editions and their contents, the release date and a little bit of story theory-crafting based on some of the hints and reveals that were part of the all-new trailer that made its debut last night.

That isn't all from The Last of Us: Part 2 for this week, however - Kirk has been in Los Angeles actually playing the game, and tomorrow you'll be able to hear all about what he thought of it. Watch the video round-up so you're nice and prepared to read his hot take on one of the biggest games of 2020. Go on - you know you want to.
