Lack of Alan Wake PC day one launch "hurt," says Remedy
Following the announcement that Alan Wake would finally arrive on PC early next year, Remedy has admitted a day one launch of the game "hurt" the company.
Remedy's head of franchise Oskari Hakkinen told G4 that, when it came to launching the thriller alongside its Xbox 360 counterpart from the first day, the "stars weren't aligned."
Hakkinen said: "PC gamers are very close to Remedy's hearts from Max Payne days, even from right back to Death Rally. Death Rally first came out on PC, that was one of our first games. Max, Max 2, huge PC following.
"Sure, we would have definitely liked to have brought Alan Wake out on day one for PC, but the stars weren't aligned, unfortunately, for that. And it definitely did hurt a little bit."
Remedy announced the arrival of Wake PC yesterday, nearly a year-and-a-half after it launched on Xbox 360. The PC version was in development alongside 360, but was canned at X10 last February by publisher Microsoft Game Studios.
The release will come with both DLC episodes The Signal and The Writer, with Remedy confirming last night (thanks, Mike) it'll use Steamworks, not Games for Windows Live, as its platform.
