Konami has confirmed during an behind-closed-doors session at Nintendo's 3DS event in Holland that PES 2011 3D will be region locked.

PES 2011 3D is the first 3DS game to have a confirmed region lock.

The presentation also revealed the game would not have online play, but multiplayer functionality via one-on-one wireless matches and Street Pass mode, which was detailed earlier.

It allows players to play matches automatically using their Master League Team Data. Opponents can be played against just by walking down the street and connecting with another Nintendo 3DS. Playing Street Pass matches will also unlock new teams and players which will build up the players roster for Master League teams.

Street Pass matches won will put the player into a higher bracket, with the best of the best earning a UEFA Champions League rank,

A Player Camera for the game will also zoom to the player with possession of the ball and it also points in the direction of play making things more precise.

During the presentation, Konami also revealed to Eurogamer it was keen on creating a 3D version of future PES games for consoles other than 3DS.

"This is definitely something I'd like to do, to develop for other consoles in 3D," said producer Naoya Hatsumi. "But I must say one of the strong points for me of Nintendo 3DS is it has a rather small display. It's almost like you're looking at a miniature garden, your little miniature world, and it's in 3D. This is a very special aspect of it which I don't think you can, one-to-one, use the same experience on a big 3D screen.

"I will probably think about how to then present the game."

PES 2011 3D is out at launch for 3DS.
