Knight's Contract goes gold for February release
Knight's Contract has gone gold ahead of its release next month. Never heard of it! What about a little company called Game Republic? A guy called Yoshiki Okamoto? A little thing called Street Fighter? There we go! Now we're paying attention.
Due on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in the US on February 22, Knights Contract is a third person action-adventure in a medieval fantasy world, starring immortal executioner Heinrich Hoffman and his ressurected witch victim, Gretchen. Gamespot reports the game's development is now complete.
Developer Game Republic was founded by "the father of Street Fighter" after his departure from Capcom, and divides its time between movie tie-ins and downloadable titles (which pay the bills) and beautiful, unusual, innovative delights like Folklore and Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom (which don't).
Knights Contract looks to fall somewhere in the middle. No European or Australian release date has been confirmed. I tell a lie; retail shows a UK release of February 25.
I've dug up what seems to have been the most recent trailer for the game, from last year's Tokyo Game Show. Actual gameplay footage starts about half way in.
