Kixeye raises $50,000 for US veterans
Social game developer Kixeye has gathered over $50,000 for US charity Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America.
Polygon reports the funds were garenered through a limited-time promotion for MMO Battle Pirates. Over six days, Kixeye offered $2 in-game gold packs which rewarded purchasers with a forum badge recognising their contribution. All proceeds went to the company's charitable efforts.
Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America is a 200,000-strong non-profit organisation which works to assist American soldiers returning from recent and ongoing conflicts.
It's good to have some nice news about Kixeye; although the company's sly and hilarious jabs at its competitors were popular, it is better known for a later racism scandal rather than its games, which include War Commander and Backyard Monsters.
