Kingdom Hearts 3 gets a shiny new gameplay trailer for E3
After what feels like ages, Kingdom Hearts 3 is finally showing off a new trailer.
Even if you've never played Kingdom Hearts before, you've likely heard about the lengthy development time of its third core game - one fans have been waiting for since 2006! Thankfully we might be in the final stretch, going by a new gameplay trailer Square Enix just dropped into the mix for E3.
The video shows off Sora's combat skills and special moves in environments seemingly inspired by Disney's animated Hercules film. We also catch some glimpses of a boss fight against a mountain-sized rock monster, and rare snippets of story content - including one where Malificent and Peg Leg Pete shake down Hades for information. Meanwhile, Sora is informed that bringing Roxas back to the game world will be next to impossible - unless he's willing to embrace the darkness.
Despite the "game in development" warning on the footage, so far the gameplay looks well-designed. Watching Sora and Goofy trigger a powerful combo move is a sight that's somehow bizarre yet strangely natural at the same time - a good sign Kingdom Hearts 3 is heading in the right direction.
Sadly, additional Kingdom Hearts 3 details are being saved for the D23 Expo 2017 on July 15, including a new trailer and talking points on a new world to explore.
Hopefully we'll have a PlayStation 4 and Xbox One release date at the same time.
