To save your game manually in Kingdom Come Deliverance you either need to use Saviour Schnapps, visit a bathhouse, or sleep in your bed. The Schnapps can be bought from traders or crafted at an Alchemy Table - the latter requires the right ingredients and isn't something you'll need to worry about during the opening. The game will save automatically when you start a new quest or advance to an important event.

As for the ingredients that you’ll actually need in order to brew your own Saviour Schnapps potion (needed to save your game easily), you’ll need the following: Wine, one handful of Nettles, two handfuls of Belladonna. We’ll list out the brewing instructions for Saviour Schnapps just below for you to follow, starting from when you find an Alchemy Bench, and open the recipe book:

  • Find the Saviour Schnapps listing and select ‘Prepare’.
  • Select the Wine on the left side and pour it into the cauldron.
  • Grab the Nettles and add it into the cauldron.
  • Select the Bellows and pump them until the mixture begins to boil.
  • Flip the hourglass and wait for the timer to finish.
  • Flip the hourglass again and wait for it to finish for the second time.
  • Grab all the Belladonna on the right and place it in the mortar and pestle.
  • Grind up the Belladonna and add it to the cauldron.
  • Flip the hourglass and wait for it to finish for the third time.
  • Grab the phial and pour the finished Saviour Schnapps into it.

How to Save Anywhere in Kingdom Come Deliverance

While the standard ways of saving in Kingdom Come: Deliverance are a pain, there's a save mod for the game which lets you manually save through the main menu system. Head over to the ModdB page for the specific saving mod, and then click on the 'files' tab to begin downloading the saving mod. Once it's downloaded, simply boot up Kingdom Come again, and you'll be able to save manually within the menu system.

Given than saving your game in Kingdom Come Deliverance has been made deliberately awkward by the dev team, using this mod will mean you're playing the game in a way not intended.
