Kinect hacked to provide real-time motion capture solution
Budget develolpers take note: a video showing Kinect motion capturing humans in real-time to MotionBuilder has emerged.
Dutchman Jasper Brekelmans crafted the hack, and has said he may release it on his blog "if there is enough interest".
The video shows Jasper booted and calibrating the hack and camera, with trademark white dots appearing at joint positions on his body when the ensemble gets a proper fix.
He then kicks up MotionBuilder, twiddles a bit and you can see his movements being streamed into the app in real-time.
He then turns himself into a blue alien and moves around. Our little brains went a bit mental at this point.
What does it mean? Potentially, anyone can now motion capture humans in their bedroom for game production, animation projects or whatever else they like. That's what it means.
Watch and see. Thanks, Kotaku.
