Kinect for Windows 2 looks a lot like Xbox One's Kinect

Microsoft has unveiled the second generation of Kinect for Windows, and unsurprisingly, it looks a lot like Like the Xbox One's sensor, Kinect 2.

As outlined on the Kinect for Windows Blog, the final form has a Kinect logo on top, and has a power indicator rather than the Xbox One's "X" symbol.

Unlike the Xbox One's sensor, it requires a separate power cable, pictured below, in addition to a USB 3.0 connector.

No release date has been set for the hardware but Microsoft said it's "getting closer and closer to launch".

Thee aren't many Kinect compatible games for Windows, but when the first generation released we saw a tsunami of clever hacks and applications, and the tech as eventually co-opted for use in some medical and industrial capacities.
