Killing Floor 2 announced, budget allowed team to "mocap everything"
Killing Floor 2 is in development at Tripwire and like the 2009 debut, the game will be "as sick as possible."
Speaking with PC Gamer, co-founder, creative director and senior animator Bill Munk said the team wants every dismembered or exploded body part in the game to look unique.
"Killing Floor is a simple game," says Munk. "You have weapons. You see something that looks messed up. And you kill it. You get money for doing it and you buy better weapons. Rinse and repeat. The more enjoyable that small little loop is, the more successful the game is.
"This project on an animation end has been a dream come true for me. This is the first time we had the budget for me to do mocap for everything and try to make everything look as sick as possible."
"Mocap for everything" includes weapons and melee actions from both a third and first-person perspective.
"[Killing Floor 2] is the first time we've been able to develop a game from start to finish with what I would call a reasonable size staff and a reasonable size budget," added president and co-founder John Gibson who said many of the guns in the game were modeled after his own collection of weapons.
Killing Floor 2 is coming to Steam Early Access for PC and SteamOS, but at present there isn't a timeframe for it. The game was pited back in January through a Steam database leak.
The original Killing Floor has sold close to 2.5 million copies.
