July NPD industry - Sales rise 28% to $1.19 billion

NPD released July sales figures for the US last night, showing total sales for the month hitting a giant $1.19 billion, up 28 percent year-on-year.
Hardware sales totalled $446.9 million, an increase of 17% over July last year.
Software showed a huge 41 percent rise to $591.1 compared to the same month in 2007.
Peripheral sales also showed growth. Add-ons accounted for $149.1 million in revenue, a 19% increase year-on-year.
