England thrashed Panama by six goals to one yesterday at the World Cup 2018 in Russia. Amidst all the celebrations (and there were many), one stood out: England midfielder Jesse Lingard performing 'the shoot' dance from Fortnite.
The move was originally made famous by rapper Blocboy JB, and now Jesse Lingard is carrying it forward. After Lingard's goal in the 35th minute against Panama, the England player executed 'the shoot' move, which you can see for yourself over on Imgur.
In the interview just above after the 6-1 result against Panama, Lingard names the move as 'the shoot', but doesn't mention that it's from Fortnite. Over on a Reddit thread about the celebratory dance, people said that Lingard is already known for the shoot dance at Manchester United, where he plays club football.
On the same thread, there's actually a lot of debate about whether the dance, called "Hype" in Fortnite, originated in Fortnite or not. It would appear that the shoot was popular, and then Epic added the move in to Fortnite, instead of the other way round.
