Jesper Kyd: composer wants to work with BioWare again
Borderlands 2 composer Jesper Kyd has a stacked resume of triple-a games under his belt. The danish musician once helped BioWare compose the soundtrack to batty shooter MDK2, and is keen to work with them again.
In an interview with OPM, Kyd was quizzed about many highlights from his career, and was asked which developers he'd like to work again the most.
"I’ve been fortunate to work with so many great developers and publishers," he replied. "However, I select projects based on if I find them interesting and feel it gives me the opportunity to create something original, not who’s developing it. Though I would love to work with Bioware again."
Kyd also revealed that the soundtrack to Assassin's Creed 2 - among others - has been his crowning achievement so far, "Well, the overwhelming reception to the Assassin’s Creed 2 score was awesome. I was humbled to see everyone embrace this music. It was a unique and special game, and I think we created a memorable score that’s become very popular with the fans. It’s great to see how our ideas continue to be a part of the franchise."
"Being recognised by Bafta for my Hitman: Contracts score was a surprise – particularly because the other nominees were big-budget, traditional-sounding orchestral scores, so it was really great to see people respond to this different type of score.
"I think it showed that you don’t just have to have a big orchestra to connect with people. Darksiders II has definitely been another great experience. I think it’s one of my most ambitious in terms of experimenting with unique sounds."
Kyd's most recent work was the soundtrack to Borderlands 2. Were you a fan of his work on Gearbox's shooter? Let us know below.
