Japanese games market grew by 1.2% in FY'12, says new report
The Japanese games market grew by 1.2% during financial year 2012. That's the claim of a new report based on figures released by score-keepers Enterbrain. It is the market's first growth in five years.
Reporting on the numbers, Tech In Asia states that for the year-ended March 31 2013, the Japanese industry did indeed see an increase in overall sales that equated to $4.6 billion in revenue.
Software sales on console formats decreased by 1.2% down to $2.8 billion, while hardware sales jumped by 5% to $1.8 billion.
It comes as Comcept's Keiji Inafune said it was "wishful thinking" to assume the Japanese market is doing well creatively. Find out why he's not happy with Japan here.
