Going back to Jade Empire's universe "comes up pretty regularly" at Bioware

Bioware has said the idea of going back to the Jade Empire universe is a topic that "comes up pretty regularly" at the office, according to studio manager Aaryn Flynn.

Speaking in a reader Q&A on Kotaku, Flynn said there is "always hope" for another Jade Empire, but for the present, the studio is rather busy.

"Both Mark [Darrah] and [creative director] Mike [Laidlaw] worked on Jade Empire, so they're advocates for it in the studio and [art director] Matt Goldman. I worked on it too," said Flynn.

“Our plate is awfully full right now, but the idea to go back to the universe does come up pretty regularly. Mark and I spent a solid two hours in my office talking about it not long ago.”

Back in 2011, Bioware co-founder and CEO Ray Muzyka said the firm had discussed another Jade Empire "on and off over the years" as it was a setting and IP the team was "really passionate about."

“Both Greg [Zeshuk, co-founder] and I were big believers in the IP," he said. "We’re just looking for the right way to deploy it.”

“We don’t have anything to announce on it right now, but it is a franchise that’s near and dear to us,” he said.

Both Muzyka and Zeshuk left Bioware in 2012.

Jade Empire, released in 2005 for PC and Xbox 360, was highly praised by critics and fans alike.

Thanks, MCV.
