Iwata's comments in Japanese newspaper about DS successor were "accurate"

Japanese newspaper The Asahi Shimbun has hit back at Nintendo of America claims that it "misinterpretated" Nintendo president Satoru Iwata in an interview.

The paper said in its response: "The article quoted Nintendo President Satoru Iwata's comment accurately."

Iwata was quoted as saying in the article that DS's successor will have "highly detailed graphics, and it will be necessary to have a sensor with the ability to read the movements of people playing."

Nintendo of America, however, quickly claimed the newpaper has "misinterpreted" the exec.

"Mr. Iwata did not make any comments regarding the functions of Nintendo's future hardware systems. The answer to the reporter's question was misinterpreted," said an NoA rep on Tuesday night.

The original interview was wide-ranging, including talk of a 2010 release for the new Wii Zelda and a Wii Vitality Sensor reveal in July.
