Iwata: 3DS will appeal to "serious gamers"

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has told Japanese news service Nikkei that the company plan to work closely with developers to "expand into elaborate games targeting serious gamers."

In the interview, Iwata said Nintendo has already been working with developers when building the just-announced machine, something he believes is “good for both Nintendo and the software developers."

Iwata did suggest that most of the software of the current DS caters more for non-game players, and he believes that advances in graphics and gameplay on the new handheld will help rectify this.

3DS titles already announced include Metal Gear Solid 3D and a brand new Resident Evil game.
