Day of Infamy, the simulation-leaning WW2 multiplayer shooter from Insurgency developers New World Interactive, is leaving Steam Early Access on March 23. Day of Infamy evolved from a mod to Insurgency and was made into its own project in July last year.

The game launches with ten playable maps, sporting different environments. The Unit System, which awards random character art of historical units and divisions to players when ranking up, will also be available.

The launch version will come with a new difficulty level for the PvE cooperative mode called Commando. This difficulty level limits the available fire support options, and pits you against elite AI enemies.

New World Interactive is also working on Insurgency: Sandstorm, the studio's biggest game yet. Like it's predecessor, Sandstorm will also feature realistic designs, and the authentic weapon feel that made the original (and Day of Infamy) a favourite among shooter fans.
