Insomniac's Ted Price just bought himself a track in Harmonix's Amplitude

Insomniac Games CEO Ted Price has donated $7,500 to Harmonix's Amplitude Kickstarter, meaning he can contribute an original song to the game. I wonder what song he'll choose? ... wait. Oh, wow.

In a post on the Insomniac blog, Price said music games in general are an important part of the developer's company culture and called the original Amplitude and cousin Frequency "two of the best PlayStation 2 games of all-time", before calling on fans to make the Kickstarter-funded Amplitude reboot happen.

"We are big fans of both Harmonix and Amplitude, and we want to see Amplitude HD," he wrote.

"As such, Insomniac has backed the game at the $7,500 level. We hope if you liked Amplitude or Frequency, or just love great music games in general, you’ll consider pledging too."

The $7,500 reward tier allows the backer to provide an original song for inclusion in the game. And yes, it's that 20th anniversary music video Insomniac made to drive recruitment.

"Our latest music video, Crazy Ride, deserves some Harmonix game love as well, so we chose the $7,500 level to put our song into the game," Price confirmed.

If you haven't yet watched Crazy Ride ... do so. Seriously.

Amplitude is expected on PS3 and PS4, and currently needs about $372,000 for its Kickstarter to proceed, with three days remaining.

Insomniac is working on the hideous mutant-filled Sunset Overdrive.
