inFamous: Second Son fan Q&A yields new insight, Delsin's appearance changes with karma levels
inFamous: Second Son producer and Sucker Punch co-founder Brian Fleming has conducted a fan Q&A focused on the team's March 21 release. It's got some new insight into the Seattle setting, and how karma affects not just Delsin; but those closest to him as well.
It follows our new inFamous: Second Son hands-on preview and interview, which went live today. Stace Harman has sunk some time into it and has given his thoughts through the link.
Fleming's Q&A session was posted over on PS Blog EU and yielded a few questions regarding Delsin's karmic impact on Seattle and its residents.
"The most interesting thing about inFamous: Second Son is that you’ll be making decisions about the trajectories of some of the other characters," Fleming wrote, "which is a different take on it. But ultimately, the most important changes aren’t narrative ones. There’ve been systems added to really foster different play styles, and that’s the thing that’s going to be the most enjoyable aspect of your second playthrough."
We already know that Delsin's brother Reggie will be one character affected by your actions in the world. When asked if Delsin's appearance will change depending on his moral alignment, Fleming added, "Yes, a lot of the things that players expect — like the changes in the character and the changes in the powers — are present. They all relate and feedback to the karma systems. So you’ll have vastly different visuals and powers depending on which way you’re playing."
When asked how long the game will be, he replied, "We’ve already established the size and shape of the inFAMOUS experience, and Second Son is very much an inFAMOUS game. We understand what we’re trying to accomplish there in terms of scale. Certainly the world is dramatically more detailed than ever before, and our focus was on improving the quality of every interaction. What we’ve tried to do is take the inFAMOUS experience that you know and love and “next-gen” the entire thing on every level."
He also confirmed that the game requires a 24GB install.
